Welcome to campus Penn class of 2024! We are so excited to meet you. Now that you're here - join the Jewish Freshmen Leadership Initiative at Penn (JFLIP)! JFLIP is the only club on campus where freshmen have the opportunity to do all of the following:
Meet weekly for dinner, and monthly for various social opportunities both on campus and in Philly
Receive mentorship from upperclassmen in how to best maximize your time at Penn
Meet and shmooze with Penn faculty and alumni
Conversations and learning with the JRP's Rabbi Gabe
JFLIPpers will have access to a budget and support in creating and promoting Jewish life across campus as they build their own social networks.

MEET THE 2018-2019 FLIP MENTORS!
Anneliese Israel is a Sophomore from Ambler, Pennsylvania. At Penn she is studying psychology and is deeply passionate about writing and comedy. She is in Bloomers, a female comedy group, and an avid fan of Netflix comedy specials. She is very excited to use this fellowship opportunity to build a Jewish community and get to know many people at Penn!
Eli Adler is a sophomore from Los Angeles, CA planning to major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and minor in Consumer Psychology and Modern Middle East Studies. In addition to JRP, Eli is an active member of the College Dean's Advisory Board, Penn Appétit, The Daily Pennsylvanian, and Penn Public Policy Consulting. As part of JRP, Eli hopes to help the Class of 2023 find their own unique Jewish identity on Penn's campus.
Jordan Fox is a sophomore from Aspen, Colorado, and plans on majoring in international relations. At Penn, she is in Bloomer, plays club lacrosse, and is a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Jordan is excited to connect with other students and help them find their place at Penn!
Logan Shalit is a sophomore from Los Angeles, California. He is in the College of Arts and Sciences, and is planning on majoring in PPE and Minoring in Consumer Psychology. He is a member of Camp Kesem, tutors with the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, and is an RA for Ware College House. He also is an active member of Kite and Key, so catch him giving tours around campus. He loves amusement parks, hanging out with his Fraternity, reading, and listening to music. Logan looks forward to giving back to the Jewish community at Penn by welcoming new people into it!
Carly Lieberman is a Sophomore from New York City, NY. She is planning to concentrate in Finance and Legal Studies and Business Ethics. At Penn, she is a member of the Wharton Sports Business Club and the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Carly is excited to become a JLL and meet the new freshman at Penn.
Josh Litwin is a college sophomore from Newton, MA, planning to study Cognitive Science with a minor in Ancient History. Some of his favorite activities include watching Boston sports and playing guitar, and he plans on getting more involved in community service initiatives across campus. Josh is really looking forward to learning more about his own relationship with Judaism, and is eager to help incoming Freshmen do the same!
Matthew Fine is a Sophomore in the Wharton School from Staten Island, NY. He loves listening to music (especially classic rock and heavy metal), watching baseball (let's go Mets!), and spending time with friends, laughing and eating food. He joined JRP to become closer to Judaism and to build connections with others that share his heritage. In addition to JRP, he is a member of the fraternity Tau Epsilon Phi. He is excited to meet new people and help freshmen be more comfortable on campus.
Jessica Brown is a sophomore from Portland Maine. She is planning on concentrating in Business Analytics and Finance with a minor in Computer Science. She was fortunate to go on a Birthright trip through Penn Hillel this past summer with an awesome group of people. Partially due to this experience, she is excited to be a JLL and help freshmen find their place in the Penn Jewish community.
Maya Itkin-Ofer is a Sophomore from Lower Merion, PA. She was born in Israel and moved to the Philadelphia suburbs with her family at a young age. She is planning to major in Cognitive Science on the computation and cognition track. At Penn, she is a director of the TEDxPenn Perspective team, part of CityStep, and is also a Penn Benjamin. Maya is excited to become a JLL and work to help Jewish freshmen at Penn find their place in the community.
Julius Richard Thiele Duhan was born and raised in Northwest Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Central High School, and a member of their 2018 International Baccalaureate Program. He is currently a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences interested in the disciplines of PPE, Psychology, and Statistics. He is a member of the UPenn Ultimate Frisbee team, a Young Quakers Associate at the Netter Center and a volunteer with other programs. He is also involved with other extracurriculars such as Penn Dems and PRE. When Jules is not working he enjoys biking and running around Philadelphia as well as swimming. He enjoys spending time at coffee shops across the city, particularly Greenline at 43rd and Baltimore. And of course he loves spending time with friends. He is a firm Process Truster and maintains a strong sense of civic duty to his neighborhood, his city and any community he is a part of. Most importantly he is excited for this coming year as a JLL fellow!
